Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a laboratory procedure that can help overcome male factor infertility like low sperm count or poor sperm quality. ICSI allows our team to isolate a single sperm and inject it directly into an egg. Two to five days after this initial fertilization, the resulting embryo can be placed into the uterus or frozen for later use.
Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) is a laboratory procedure that can test for specific disorder(s). By determining the health of an embryo before implanting it into the uterus, you can optimize your ability to deliver a healthy baby. Typically, a couple would only elect to use PGD if they were a known carrier(s) of a genetic disorder.
In vitro maturation (IVM) is a laboratory procedure that can help immature eggs develop to maturity outside the body. Eggs are retrieved, placed in a special maturation solution, and carefully monitored until they are matured to be fertilized. Eggs can then be fertilized using ICSI, and then the resultant embryos can be selected for fresh IVF transfer or cryopreservation.
